Zirconia Crowns in Turkey
A zirconia crown is a full-coverage restoration milled from a ceramic that is strong enough to be used without a metal core. It is the material most overseas patients are offered for visible teeth, because it can be shade-matched to look natural while withstanding everyday chewing.
This hub covers what zirconia is, when a crown is the sensible choice and when it is not, how many days the work takes in Turkey, and how the pages in this cluster fit together — from single crowns to full-mouth cases.
Why zirconia is usually the material of choice
Porcelain fused to metal has been used for decades and still works, but it needs a metal layer underneath that can grey the gum line and chip where the porcelain is thin. Zirconia is milled as one piece, so there is no metal to show through and the crown is less prone to chipping at the edge.
The trade-offs are real, though. Zirconia is harder than natural enamel, which makes careful bite planning important, and it is harder to adjust inside the mouth than porcelain. That is why the planning and fitting matter more than the material's specification sheet.
- Single crowns for one broken, heavily filled or root-treated tooth.
- Full-mouth cases where most visible teeth need covering.
- Bridge units, where the material's strength is useful.
- Cases where a natural shade rather than a very white one is wanted.

When a crown is not the right answer
A crown means removing some of the tooth's outer layer, and that cannot be undone. Where a tooth is only mildly discoloured or slightly chipped, whitening, composite bonding or veneers may give a better long-term result with less taken away.
We will say so when that applies, even where it earns less. If you have been offered a full set of crowns without a conversation about what will be removed from each tooth, ask for one before you agree.
Not sure which treatment applies to you? A coordinator will go through it with you.
What the week looks like
Crowns are typically finished over five to seven days: examination, preparation and impressions first, a few working days for the laboratory, then fitting and any adjustments. The gaps are laboratory time, not waiting rooms, so the afternoons are free.
Mild sensitivity for a few days is normal while the gum settles. Anything more than that should be checked before you fly, which is another reason to keep a spare day at the end of the trip.
Getting a plan and a real price
Send photographs taken in daylight — front, both sides and your bite — and say what you would like changed. A coordinator will tell you whether crowns are likely, which teeth are involved and what the guide prices mean for your case.

Zirconia Crowns in Turkey: questions patients ask
How much do zirconia crowns cost in Turkey?
Our published guide prices are on the Turkey teeth prices page, and the figure for your case depends on how many teeth are involved and what else needs doing. A written plan follows an examination, not a photograph.
How long do zirconia crowns last?
Many patients keep them for well over a decade, and some much longer. Lifespan depends on your bite, whether you grind your teeth, your cleaning and your regular reviews.
Will my teeth be filed down?
Some preparation is needed for any crown. How much, and whether a more conservative option such as a veneer or bonding would work, should be explained before treatment starts.
Are crowns fitted in one trip?
Usually yes for crowns alone — plan five to seven days, including a spare day for adjustments.
Can crowns be matched to my other teeth?
Yes, and we would encourage a natural shade rather than the brightest available. Shade is agreed with you before the laboratory makes the crowns.

How to read this page
SmileOver is a coordination service. We arrange consultations, written treatment plans, airport and clinic transfers, accommodation and aftercare contact for patients travelling from the UK and elsewhere.
Clinical care — diagnosis, treatment planning and the treatment itself — is provided by the independent dental clinic and its registered dentists in Turkey. SmileOver does not practise dentistry and does not decide which treatment you need.
Every page here is general information, not medical advice. Your dentist will assess your own teeth, and treatment varies between patients. No outcome is guaranteed and no treatment is suitable for everyone.
