Your Smile. Your Identity. Your Journey.
Inclusive dental care in Turkey for transgender and LGBTQ+ patients.
“At SmileOver, everyone deserves to feel comfortable, respected and listened to. We welcome patients of all gender identities and sexual orientations and are here to support you throughout your dental journey.”

You Are Welcome at SmileOver
Travelling abroad for dental treatment can feel daunting, particularly when you are visiting somewhere unfamiliar and you are not sure what to expect. When you are transgender or LGBTQ+, there can be extra questions on your mind that have nothing to do with teeth.
SmileOver coordinates dental treatment in Marmaris for patients from the UK and beyond. We are not able to promise that every moment of a trip abroad will feel effortless, but we can tell you how we work, what you can ask for, and how to raise anything that matters to you before you travel.
Concerns patients often tell us about
- Being addressed by the correct name
- Pronouns
- Privacy
- Personal information
- Photographs
- Treatment discussions
- Accommodation
- Transfers
- Interactions with staff
- Feeling comfortable while travelling
None of these are unreasonable things to ask about. You can tell your SmileOver coordinator what matters to you before you travel, and reasonable arrangements can be discussed in advance.

Patients come to Marmaris from all over the UK, and everyone is treated the same way: as an individual with their own reasons for being here.
We Respect Who You Are
You are not a category, and you should not have to explain yourself to arrange dental treatment. These are the things we try to get right every time.
Chosen names where possible
Tell your coordinator the name you use. We will use it in our messages, your appointment notes and when we speak with you.
Pronouns
Let us know your pronouns. We will use them, and we will pass them on to the clinic team so the people treating you know too.
Gender identity
Your gender identity is yours to describe. You never have to explain or justify it to us, and it does not change your dental options.
Privacy
Conversations about your teeth stay between you, your coordinator and the clinicians involved in your care.
Personal boundaries
Tell us if there is anything you would prefer we avoid, from how we address you to who is present during an appointment.
Confidential communication
Choose how we contact you — WhatsApp, email or phone — and tell us if a message should be worded discreetly.
Professional treatment
You are treated as a patient with a clinical question, assessed on your teeth, gums, bone and general health.
A judgement-free approach
We aim to make every conversation with us straightforward, respectful and free of assumptions about you.
We do not claim that every member of staff, hotel or transfer partner has completed specific LGBTQ+ training. What we can do is be clear about how we work, listen when something is not right, and treat you as an individual throughout your trip.
Your Privacy Matters
You can talk to your SmileOver coordinator about privacy at any point — before you book, before you travel, or during your stay. These are the areas patients most often ask about, and how we approach each one.
Confidential communication
We contact you the way you ask us to, and we can keep messages brief or neutral if that suits you better.
Your patient information
Medical details, photographs and contact information are held for your treatment and handled in line with our privacy policy.
Private consultations
Ask for a private conversation, and we will arrange a quiet space or a call at a time that suits you.
Photography consent
Clinical photographs are used for your treatment. Anything beyond that needs your separate, specific consent — and we never publish your images without it.
Marketing consent
You will not appear in our marketing because you were treated by us. If you ever want to share your story, that is your choice to make.
Sharing with healthcare professionals
We share information with the clinicians involved in your care, and with your own doctor or dentist where it is medically necessary or you ask us to.
“If there is anything you would like us to know before your visit, tell your SmileOver coordinator privately.”
More detail on how we hold and use information is set out in our privacy policy.
Your Dental Options in Marmaris
Whatever brings you to us, the treatment itself is planned the same way: an assessment first, a written plan you can read, and a recommendation based on your teeth rather than on how much work we can sell you.
What Happens, Step by Step
Free consultation
Send your details and photographs, and speak to an English-speaking coordinator about what you would like to change.
Discuss your requirements
Tell us how you would like to be addressed, what you would rather avoid, and how you prefer to be contacted.
Plan your trip
Dates, accommodation and transfers are arranged around your treatment plan and your comfort.
Arrive in Turkey
A private transfer meets you at Dalaman, and your coordinator is reachable in English from the moment you land.
Dental treatment
Your assessment, scans and treatment appointments take place at the clinic, with the plan confirmed with you first.
Aftercare
You leave with written aftercare guidance, and your coordinator stays reachable once you are home.
Treatment is always subject to professional dental assessment. Whether a particular treatment is right for you is decided on your teeth, gums, bone and general health, never on your identity.
Inclusive care: questions patients ask
Do you welcome transgender patients?
Yes. We treat patients of all gender identities, and dental care at SmileOver is planned around your clinical needs rather than who you are. If you would like to tell us how you prefer to be addressed before your visit, your coordinator will note it.
Is SmileOver LGBTQ+ friendly?
We aim to be welcoming to everyone who contacts us, and we are open about how we work: one coordinator who knows your name, respectful language, confidential communication and a judgement-free approach to your questions. We do not claim badges or certifications we have not verified, so the fairest test is to talk to us and see how it feels.
Can I tell you my preferred name and pronouns?
Yes, and you can do it in writing if you would rather not say it out loud. We use the name and pronouns you give us in our communication and with the clinic team. Hotel and transfer bookings are usually made in the name on your travel documents, so tell your coordinator if you would like those handled carefully.
Will my personal information remain private?
Your medical information, photographs and contact details are held for the purposes of your treatment and handled in line with our privacy policy. It is shared with the clinicians involved in your care, and with your own doctor or dentist only where it is medically necessary or you ask us to.
Can I request a private consultation?
Yes. Ask your coordinator for a private conversation and we will arrange a quiet space at the clinic or a call at a time that suits you. You can also choose to communicate by WhatsApp or email rather than by phone.
Can I discuss my concerns before travelling?
Please do. Anything about names, pronouns, privacy, photographs, accommodation, transfers or who is present during appointments can be raised before you book and before you fly, so that reasonable arrangements can be discussed in advance.
Can transgender people have dental treatment in Turkey?
Yes. Patients of all gender identities travel to Turkey for dental treatment, including implants, crowns and smile design. Suitability for treatment depends on your dental and medical assessment, such as gum health, bone volume and any medication you take — that conversation belongs with the dentist treating you.
Can I travel to Turkey while taking gender-affirming medication?
That is a question for your own doctor or prescriber, not for us, and it is worth asking well before you book flights. Your GP or endocrinologist can advise on travelling with your medication, timing around treatment days and anything to arrange in advance. Tell your coordinator what you take so it can be noted with your medical history, and bring medication in its original packaging.
Ready to Talk About Your Smile?
You don't have to have everything figured out before contacting us. Tell us what you're looking for, ask your questions and let us help you understand your options.
No medical advice is given before an assessment, and no outcome is guaranteed. You can also contact SmileOver by email or phone instead.
“At SmileOver, you are more than a treatment plan. You're a person, and you deserve to be treated with dignity, respect and understanding.”
