Emergency Dental Treatment in Turkey
If you are in Turkey, in pain or with a broken tooth, the practical questions come in a particular order: what do I do right now, who can see me today, and what will it cost. This page is written for that situation, whether you live here, are on holiday, or are already in the country for treatment.
One thing worth saying plainly: we are a coordination service based in Marmaris, not an emergency service. We can help arrange an appointment quickly with the clinic we work with, and we will tell you honestly if your problem needs a hospital or a different route.
What to do in the first hour
Pain that keeps you awake, swelling in the face or jaw, a tooth knocked out, a fractured front tooth and bleeding that will not stop are all reasons to seek care the same day rather than wait.
- Severe pain with swelling: seek care urgently, and go to a hospital if the swelling is spreading towards your eye or throat, or if you have difficulty swallowing or breathing.
- Knocked-out adult tooth: keep it moist — in milk or saliva — and get to a dentist quickly. Time matters.
- Broken tooth with a sharp edge: cover it with dental wax or sugar-free gum to protect your tongue, and avoid very hot or cold food.
- Lost filling or crown: keep the crown, avoid chewing on that side, and see a dentist to have it re-cemented.
- Bleeding after an extraction: bite firmly on gauze for twenty minutes without checking, and sit upright.

What a clinic can usually do the same day
A dental clinic can assess and treat most dental pain: draining an abscess, beginning root canal treatment, re-cementing a crown, repairing a fracture with a temporary restoration, or prescribing antibiotics where they are appropriate.
What it cannot do is fix everything permanently in one appointment. Often the first visit is about relieving pain and stabilising the problem, with definitive treatment planned afterwards. Ask which stage you are paying for.
Not sure which treatment applies to you? A coordinator will go through it with you.
If you are here for planned treatment
Patients already in Turkey for treatment sometimes worry that a problem between appointments means the plan is failing. Usually it does not: a crown feeling high, a temporary bridge loosening, or a sharp edge after preparation are all routinely dealt with at the clinic.
Message your coordinator rather than waiting for your next appointment. It is quicker to adjust something the same week than to travel home with it.
Costs, language and aftercare
Urgent treatment is priced like any other dental work — per procedure — and you are entitled to know the figure before it is carried out. Ask for an explanation in English and for a written note of what was done.
If you are travelling on shortly, ask for instructions in writing and the clinic's contact details, and tell your own dentist at home what happened when you return.
Message a coordinator on WhatsApp for help arranging an appointment, or see how treatment is arranged in less urgent cases.
Emergency Dental Treatment in Turkey: questions patients ask
Can I see a dentist in Turkey without an appointment?
Many clinics keep slots for urgent cases, but it is quicker to message in advance so the practice knows what to prepare for.
How much does emergency dental treatment cost in Turkey?
It depends on the procedure — an examination and x-ray, a temporary repair, an extraction or the first stage of root treatment. Ask for the price before treatment starts.
Do dentists in Turkey speak English in an emergency?
The clinics treating international patients usually have English-speaking staff available. If not, a coordinator can interpret.
What if my problem needs a hospital rather than a dentist?
Facial swelling that is spreading, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or a facial injury needs hospital care. Go directly, and tell us afterwards so we can help with what follows.
Will my travel insurance cover emergency dental treatment?
Some policies include emergency dental cover for pain relief, usually with a modest limit. Check your policy, and keep receipts and any treatment notes.

How to read this page
SmileOver is a coordination service. We arrange consultations, written treatment plans, airport and clinic transfers, accommodation and aftercare contact for patients travelling from the UK and elsewhere.
Clinical care — diagnosis, treatment planning and the treatment itself — is provided by the independent dental clinic and its registered dentists in Turkey. SmileOver does not practise dentistry and does not decide which treatment you need.
Every page here is general information, not medical advice. Your dentist will assess your own teeth, and treatment varies between patients. No outcome is guaranteed and no treatment is suitable for everyone.
